This November there are two fast approaching deadlines for women in science we know you don’t want to miss. Before you begin preparing for Thanksgiving consider preparing your applications for two major upcoming seminar and fellowship opportunities.

Women & Science/Technology Policy Seminar in Washington, DC:
The Public Leadership Education Network (PLEN) will be holding its 12th annual Women & Science/ Technology Policy Seminar January 3-7, 2012 for women students who are considering a career in science or health policy. This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for women students to discover a different way to professionally apply their scientific and technological knowledge. The seminar teachers are women scientists in diverse areas of government and the private sector. These women immerse the students in the major issues of the day, guide them through the realities of policy making, and help them discover if they want to become part of the process. The program maximizes interaction between students and women leaders working on public policy, and it provides a unique opportunity to connect students with women in the field who can offer advice as well as open doors. Visit http://www.plen.org/ to register.

PLEN sponsors a need-based scholarship to cover the registration and seminar fees for one student currently enrolled in a college/university to attend the Women & Science/Technology Policy Seminar. The deadline to apply for a Need-Based Scholarship is November 11, 2011!

L'Oreal USA's Fellowships For Women In Science Now Accepting 2012 Applications:

L'Oreal USA awards each recipient up to $60,000 to apply toward her postdoctoral research to further help women researchers achieve their goals.

The L'Oreal USA Fellowships For Women in Science program is open only to women postdoctoral researchers. Candidates interested in applying may visit the L'Oreal USA Fellowships For Women in Science website at http://www.lorealusa.com/forwomeninscience to obtain more information about program eligibility and requirements.
